I went on sunday with the better half, had a great day. Unfortunately, after a couple of Aspalls Bridie the Victorian maid type girl on stilts chose me to drag from the crowd to dance a jig or reel or whatever it was. Apparently I didn't look too much of a tool, and I stuck it out for the whole tune, the next guy she picked on managed a few seconds, he'd obviously had no cider...

 

Steve the hewing guy next to classic hand tools is a quality geezer, we chatted for ages. Freelance instructor no less...

Yes, I had a good discussion with him about which side axe would do what I wanted late on in the day. He was happy to talk through, and demonstrate, the differences between them in speed of work and finish achieved, which ended up drawing quite a crowd. Then when I came back to buy the one they had with them he ended up borrowing it from me to explain aspects of blade sharpening profile to someone else. I don't think he got a lot of rest!
