Im after a big bit of kit at the mo so ringing around there are a lot of different prices by a few £ for the same bit of kit fine ok . So i ring up the people whom make this bit of kit and even if i went to there yard they are wait for it £ 500 more than the cheapest dealer could not understand that :confused1:so my local dealer 300 miles from them will get my cash .

Dealer terms mate. Otherwise what incentive is there for the dealers to give good service if the manufacturer sells them cheaper than the dealer can? Same with most things.

Aye, he's not wrong. Why would any dealer/retailer go to the trouble of setting themselves up to sell a certain manfacturers goods or services if that manufacturer or service provider then undercut his dealership/retail network by selling cheaper directly to joe public.

 

Simple economics really.

If the manufacture did it cheaper than the dealer, they would have no dealer network within a few months. (no backup service). I'm surprised they gave you a price at all.

 

Hopefully your local dealer will give you good services for years to come.

TO be fair i have tried to go direct with the big kit we have bought or are in the process of buying. Out of the five manufactures ive tried only one said he would do it cheaper than my local dealer. But if something goes wrong my local dealer is not going to make it easy for me.
