Cheers Sciutadopitys that was my gut feeling but good to get vibe from others who've been there and done it. ISA wins my vote there then. I'm a bit reserved to go back into the realms of studying as tree work was a physically welcome break from my 10+ years of study and research in biodiversity ecology (B.Sc., M.Sc., & Ph.D.). But I figure we must embrace the challenges to better ourselves so something to think about for the near future for me.

The 10 id's were not photos for my exam. (Sat at Capel Manor).

Total c*@p being written about AA Profess membership. You need to have level 4 qualification, or documented proof of working to that standard, (giving AA examples of projects/ responsibilities etc)

and then you pay them 5 years worth of subscription fees and they change ur letters to F. Arbor A - great stuff! Where is the achievement in that mate? No Continuing Education Units like ISA. No exam. can't see the point to be honest. And i know many people who feel the same! If you are struggling to find a few letter to put after ur name then go for it, personally i'm not so i'll leave it thanks blakes 7!

The gold standard for Arboriculturalists is to become chartered with the Institute of Chartered Foresters, who now recognise "Chartered Arboriculturalist" as a distinct division and seperate from foresters.

Sciadopitys, the achievement is not having F. Arbor A after your name, but either your record of level 4 CPD or your level 4 qualification.

The AA now allows you to give proof of your skills and CPD since the RFS Prof Dip Arb' became a level 6 qualification.

This allows you to demonstrate your ability, that you have gained practically.

Read what is required, a good idea IMHO.

I see that you are not struggling to have letters after your name: NPTC!

BTW I am also ISA cert' arb', but I dont feel I need to shout about it. I also have several "O" levels (also level 2), an "A" level (level 3) and a HND (level 4)

ISA Cert Arb equates to level 2, and its multiple choice!

I was just expressing my opinion, don't expect everyone to agree, mate! The world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything!

 

My degree wasn't multi-choice and neither is the MSc in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry i am currently doing!

You seem well informed on this matter. Which qualification / certificate is most recognised in Australia? May have a full time climbers job there and wanting to take a quali which is recognised by the Aussies.
