diy friction saver, is it safe?

A fixed cheek pulley isn’t designed to go on to a larksfoot will need some form of attachment or maybe a spacer rather than a larksfoot to prevent it pulling the cheeks together

Swing cheeks can be directly attached (from a structural point of view) but are a bit “edgy” to go straight on to a tape sling, I would put a biner between the tape and pulley to avoid the edges in either case.

you can do put its still not great to have a bina at a distance you can't control, i.e the gate may load funny against a branch or stem, and become open....

My thoughts too. Am I being naive or is it just me who sees no problem with a cambium saver on its own?

i see no problem at all rather that then natural crotch as treequip has already said, but the use of a pulley on its own is just so efficient i would personally not use a normal cambium saver again unless it was an edelrid roka-e.....

Edelrid Roka-e Cambium Saver

That looks good, but it wants to at double the price of a standard...

So - how would you set up a system to include a pulley?

if this Petzl Jane Cambium Saver was your basic cambium saver the small Maillon Rapide would hold a small isc swing cheek pulley there for taking most the friction away.....hope this helps.
