I have the Echo, tbh it leaves the Stihl standing in terms of quality build. I'd estimate that the vibes are approx 50% less than the Stihl model, cut quality is superb, in general a much better tool. Having started with a variety of long reach, the later model Echos take some beating, by far the most important factor for me in long reaches is the vibes though.

Regardless which make and model consider a Easy-Lift Harness. Yes it is an investment and you will get done faster and feel better after using it compared to working without. There are numerous members that use this product and are very pleased and only wish they had purchased one sooner. Good Hunting.

I have sold hundreds of the Tanaka units over the last 15 yrs or so and many of the first ones are still going strongly.

The 23cc power unit has ample power for hedge cutting and keeps the weight down, much lighter than Stihl or Echo and very durable.

I have a Tanaka single side unit, it's been very good indeed. Downside? It's fuel tank is smaller than many of it's competitors, meaning more refills, more stopping/starting, whether this is an issue on the long reaches I can't comment.

The plus side of the small tank is that it keeps the weight down, every few grams help.

The Tanaka company was bought out by Hitachi, who did not produce this type of kit, so the Hitachi branded machines are actually Tanaka.

Hitachi are however starting to introduce some Chinese kit under the Hitachi brand, so its best to keep to the Japanese Tanaka.
