It's really frustrating for us, sitting here on Arran with hundreds of tonnes of well seasoned softwood, ideal for firewood production, but hundreds of miles from a high demand market.

 

 

 

 

Readress your price structure and get em down here..

white diesal come down,we are in recession,haulage firms are struggeling,wanting backloads from up north, i guess its the ferry to the mainland thats the biggest bugbear,,hey thats life..

and

people around here will pay £2.50 a 1/2 filled net of crap vs a full net of beach stored inside for 18mths at £3.50. morrisons selling crap at £3.99.

It's not our price that's the problem really, it's as you say, the cost of the ferry to the mainland : £550 for a 40ft trailer one-way!! At 20 tonne a load that's nearly £30 per tonne freight, before you go anywhere in mainland UK...............

 

Experiencing good trade with locals, but the limit is the island population of 4,500.
