'you MUST BE insured with public liability!! '.....,I don't get this either, whoever is the contractor is responsible for PL, any freelance staff work under that insurance.

all sorted thankyou ladies and gents. the groundy needed his own insurance as im a subby myself i get big jobs from time to time and get other subbys in to help out.

If you try to claim on the groundie's PL insurance you will be in for a nasty surprise. It's your job, arranged by you and done under your direction so any liability is yours and yours alone. I've lost count of the amount of times this has come up and the legal situation never changes, however hard people try to wriggle around it. You are employing your 'sub-contractor' for the period of the job and so you are also required by law to have Employer's Liability insurance too. :001_smile:
