If you try to claim on the groundie's PL insurance you will be in for a nasty surprise. It's your job, arranged by you and done under your direction so any liability is yours and yours alone. I've lost count of the amount of times this has come up and the legal situation never changes, however hard people try to wriggle around it. You are employing your 'sub-contractor' for the period of the job and so you are also required by law to have Employer's Liability insurance too.
