I have a little bit welded to the hook on the park pruner set.

means i can loop my coiled rope over it (the hook) and place the coil directly over my anchor point. Normally use three sections on the park pruner set which gives me 15ft.

Great in cluttered trees

Thats a good idea...sounds faster aswell...thanks Mac.

associated utillity supplies AUS make insulated rods for powerline clearance, you can get a hook for these. rods come in sections around 1.2 m in length and although they get very bendy when you use over 7 i have used 15 rods to gain access to a wellingtonia infested with ivy. shockingly horrible job clearing it off but looked quite good afterwards.

If the gaps between significant limbs are a bit long for the afternoon muscles then I have used several attempts.

Used the throw line from up in the tree (messy)

Used loops around the trunk at short intervals so that I can go up a food or so at a time simply by pushing away from the tree. (Slow)

Silky and flip line with a lot of grunting. (Fastest but hard work)

Send groundie up :-) (My favourite)

What a day today! been out practicing some cutting with a rope and harness and top saw. wasnt the best day for me..tired and had the motivation of a slug.

trying to climb a sweet chesnut on a woodland ride with not many thick branches to hang off and more shoots so many shoots on the trunk , that made rope throwing a nightmare:thumbdown:everyone got caught over and over again!

my question is: How do you guys / gals climb a dreaded tree like this?

I gave up this afternoon out off sheer frustration and lack off sleep.

Trebuchet!
