We have been using an old kubota tractor for grass cutting, which we have now sold on. I have been looking at scag pedestrian mowers and wondered what other people in the know thought of them. We won't buy a new one as we have a limited budget, does anyone know where we could find a second hand one?

Any views gratefully received. Cheers

I bought a scagg pedestrian flail in 1994, still going now. Very well built with a kawazaki 14hp engine. If their owned & built by the same firm, id say defiantly buy one.

in my opinion scag are the best mower on the market. We use them on all our utility work. spares can be a problem so check you have a local dealer. i have sold a few on ebay over the years and often see them on there. downside is the pedestrion mowers are all petrol. petrol engine on a walk behind have about 2000 hours life in them if there well serviced. everything else is bullit proof.

we have a scag zero turn 61" great but thirsty

A 48" scag pedes mower with the kawi engine

and a ferris 32" pedes which has been bullit proof

Were looking for a diesel ride on now, so one of the scags has to go.

in my opinion your better with a used quality mower, rather than a new budget mower

generally owt yank built can be fixed with a club hammer, an angle grinder and a welder.

Ferris and Skag are similar in construction, tough but thirsty.

We have a petrol walk behind Ferris, as tough as old boots, plus a diesel ride on zero turn ferris which is a proper animal, as long as the suspension is greased, but hey even then see above re the club hammer/grinder/welder fix
