Igland 85H problem

Having problems with the drum creeping back in itself when you let the brake off,ie press 2 on the remote.doesn't have enough force to pull anything other than the rope back in which is a pain when you've pulled it out,only at short length though seems fine at 50m plus.Haven't investigated yet but wondered if there might be a sticky spool valve,any ideas folks?

Check your main bearings, is the drum sounding course and difficult to pull when you pull the rope out? if so there is a high chance that the problem lies with a broken bearing as when you pull the rope out it will drag on the clutch and will winch the rope back in albeit with no real power, so i would check your bearings first, also there might be some side wobble on the drum if more than one bearing is worn, you can also try playing with the clutch adjuster too.

Drum sounds ok when pulling out rope.just changed ropes on thurs and had to turn drum by hand,didn't seem to be any play.clutch never been adjusted since new(4 years old)so sounds hopeful.

My Igland 6001 hydro electric winch has developed a similar problem, the cable has become extremely difficult to pull out. I removed the front inspection plate and have checked that the ram is operating, its fully extending and retracting as it should. The bearings appear good with no play.

 

Any suggestions as to what the problem is please???

Id get the remote checked out, they can get a fare bit of abuse, 1 lad dropped mine years ago and it broke it off its mounts inside.

I have replaced the wander lead and switches, as far as I know that just operates the ram, which is working correctly.

Glug a few litres of chain oil down the back of it.

Will that not just make the clutch slip, reducing pull???
