you dont want it to squash your nad so best thing go into a shop try it on sit and get used to being in it

Yer mate try try try before you buy, i scrimped on my first harness and just bought a tree motion 3 years later. If you prefer an expensive harness save for it dont just buy cheep as you cant aford it like i first did.

tyr as many harnesses on as possible and chose the one that is right for you and not what other climbers are raving about

Hanging from a harness in the store is crap, sort of. It has some uses but you gotta climb in somthing to know if your gonna like it. I borrowed saddles from other climbers and then got a cheap hundred dollar weaver saddle. nothing speacial, a little heavy, durable as heck, and fairly comfortable. I also started with a very basic technique which I think every beginner should do. just 1 harness, 1 rope, 1 carabiner. once I had been climbing for a while, I had a much better Idea of the gear I wanted. ended up with the petzl sequoia and a crapload of other stuff.
