i bailed out of being self employed in march after much soul searching and having a nipper. However i am still working on weekends (kept tools and insurance) and all my regulars are still calling. so i feel i am no worse off! after the threads earlier about work slowing down the forum seems to have forgotton about it!!!! maybe a good sign. personally i feel the media have calmed down their panic stories and things may get normalish again:001_smile:

Ive only been going on my own since April this year so don't know whats typical. First six months were quite good, but gone a bit quiet now. :confused1:

I hate to say it but I think things will get worse, I,m living off customers that I,ve built up over previous years. Price cheap, its better than not working at all.

i personally have mixed views about pricing cheap!:001_tt1::scared1:

on one aspect you won't the work the other will drive down everyones prices till there will be minimal profit left! i think that is a short sighted answer omo tho:001_smile:

The way I see it now is that all my expense's are the same whether I work or not. Except maybe a bit more of a fuel cost but thats irrelative tbh.

There will always be someone out there ready to do a job at at a price lower than yourself so what do you do?

We have lowered prices on certain easy jobs and kept then the same on more difficult techinal one's.

It's better to work all work and bring in a £800-£1000 in than nothing imo.

evening all, still very busy at the min although alot of lads are struggling. domestic works slowed down a bit but got alot of LA work to fill the gaps. As harsh as it sounds when some of the small companys go bang then some of there work comes up for grabs.

Spot on,keep youre head above water for the near future.
