No critism Joe just interested, did they just tell you to put an anchor point over a limb so far out and then you install a rescue line afterwards.

I personally (in a real life senario) would have climbed up and put in an anchor above on a seperate limb and not installed one from the ground on the same limb.

Assuming from the pics this is what you did of course :001_smile:

Simply because I could check my own anchor point for structural integrety, you cannot really assume the casualty had done the checks, this could be one of the reasons he is a casualty because one of his anchors failed

Yeah, good point that Dean, i was tought the same. Plus your not doubling the load on that limb. If it was me, i would of anchored higher which would of made it easier getting out on that limb, and dropped through the folk.

In the first pic, it looks like he is anchored right at the top of the pic, in the centre of the tree, and has redirected through the fork.

Could be wrong though.

:dito: my thoughts to Dean.

would have gone through a redirect attached to a higher branch next to the trunk.

What college is this in Winchester Ian?

Sorry, dont quite understand, maybe you havent understood. What im saying is i wouldnt anchor to the branch where i would be conducting a rescue.!

And yes Peter, at a closer look it does look like his line is high up. Well spotted.

i understand Ian, i ment it looked like he was anchored out from the trunk. it looked like he was anchored to a limb above him. I can just make out a redirect now that you piont it out peter..its hard to see witht the backlight.
