husky 51 new carb upgrade any ideas

hi there my 51 is in need of a new carb just wondered if anyone knows of upgade carb give it a bit more zing:vroam:? currently on a walbro std as it came, any ideas would be appreciated just put a new barrel/piston kit on so its not compression

Was it genuine ( OEM ) Husqvarna pot and piston or a cheap after market one ? If it was a chineese one it wont last the day ! If its a Husqvarna one then maybe the carb wants looking at . Ask spud . he will know .

oem husky one running ok now just the carb throtle pins worn can just fit a new carb £50+ genuin but just wondered if theres a better one to fit

I would think that the original spec one would work best but ask spud anyways . He knows loads .

Personally would stick with the original OEM carb, you may be able to get a second user one but take the risk of it being the same as yours. If you come away from the original you may need to fit other parts and not gain anything without doing other work to the saw.

 

One simple way to get gains is to open up the muffler a little but it will make the saw louder - having said that, the older saws were generally less restrictive so you may not gain so much as a modern saw.

 

The other simple mod is to fit a thinner gasket but you will need to measure the squish to make sure the piston wont hit the combustion chamber.

 

When you fit the new carb, tune it to around 12500 to get the highest chain speed out of the saw and it should make a decent logging saw if fitted with a 15" bar:thumbup:
