Mr Log Dog, you probably dealt with Jim and he's a really good guy and get stuff done so as you say credit to him.

I been busy recently and made some progressive changes to the trailer which have now made it brilliant and truthfully cant fault it, its just about to have 2 side winder jacks mounted to the back with sliding extenders on to stop the trailer from flexing. We have also covered over the exposed ram to stop it from possibly getting hit when loading limbs on. We have been doing estate clearance work for the last 3 days shifting dead elms and i couldnt even think about doing that job now with out a hiab trailer and a boxer skidsteer!!!!

Here are a few pics. Riko stuff is good just had some issues, we all do/will at some point!

Windfall, I havent really commented against his post as it would become stupid and it has all been dealt with previously. As for the relief valve, i can hand on heart swear i never adjusted it, or would not even know how too as i dont mess with hydraulic pressure. They actually took about 9 weeks to sort the splitter having sent it to Italy!!!! it was sent back broken, then sent with the wrong length ram on, then the ram was dropped by the courier and now all my hydraulic pipes are bent! I dont want brew up a storm here as its his word against mine. I know that nothing has been adjusted on the machine, it actually came back from italy with the power under pressure! Stuff breaks, clearly im just unlucky!!!! lol I am now sorting out the splitter head as that has just failed on the same place as the previous one!!

I can understand why Riko is defensive regarding your comments, real world user reviews are very powerful.

I am getting up the courage to splash £2500++ with them on a saw bench and other stuff, on reading your negative comments it put me right off. Rikos side helped sway me back so I was interested to know a bit more.

Seeing what you have had to do to the trailer supports to make it so that you can use it is pretty disheartening for a potential Riko customer.

First of all thank you all for you kind comments.

As I'm sure you are aware we manufacture the fast tow trailers ourselves, and build them to match customer requirements.

The trailer that Theocus has was originally supplied to a company who were intending to use it for delivering bagged firewood. Had they been intending to use it for the type of work that Theocus is I probably would have suggested a different specification.

I can put any potential customer in touch with a variety of happy customers. We have supplied them now to alot of councils in the south for work as varied as picking up burnt out motorcycles, to clearing brash, to moving play equipment. Of course we also have trailers with traditional forestry contractors too. A trailer that is perfect for one customer might not be practical for another.

Fortunately problems with these trailers have been to date few and far between, and often very minor. Bending the legs is a new one on me!

It does seem that David has been particularly unlucky with the breakages he has had, and from what I understand not just with our equipment!

I would ask that anyone considering our equpment to get in touch with us so we can have the opportunity to put you in touch with some happy customers or reassure you as to the quality of our machines. Fortunately the majority of comments on this forum about our machinery are positive!

Jim

Yep the hydraulic pressure for the infeed rollers went in my Vermeer at 160 hrs, must of been designed for chipping match sticks and not wood!

The previous owners bought the trailer for collecting wood and delivering wood, i did the same. Im not going to go into who's what, said this, did that etc. Its a timber trailer, hence why it has bolsters, and its states it in the manual, you even sell them at shows as "timber trailers" if i have misunderstood this and am using it for the wrong purpose please say!

I do recall it being said to me you had had another client with a bent leg and also that the 4m crane isnt really suitable for the chassis it is mounted on.

You do make good equipment and i too was a very happy customer, i use the crane every day now and i wouldnt be without it, and every thing else is spot on. Why not instead of trying to belittle me on a public forum take heed from my adaptations and realise that there might be a few flaws in some of your products, why not even give me a call and i can run you through some of the mods! Remember we use your equipment in the real world and not just in your carpark!
