Tractor v mog v Fastrac

Right thinking of putting a plan togeather for a utility arb vehicle to flail, mulch and even chip!

 

It needs to either be 40kph+ or a lorry move covering around 100 miles from home.

 

I am thinking on one power unit and attach what is needed , but also a grab/hiab would be well handy so i am thinking D-mount for the hiab/crane.

 

first what unit

 

Unimog? Fendt? or Fastrac?

 

what sort of crane make model?

 

chipper make model?

 

mulcher make model?

 

i think i would go for a spearhead flail as i had one for 10 years and no problems to speak of absolutly brilliant well made flails.

 

This vehicle would be used for utilty work all the time .

 

any info would be most apreciated

I've driven a Fendt Zylon, which is a bit like a fasttrack. it was pretty good but I have heard that they can "push a rod".

how fast is the fendt mate?

i think the big jcb will still do 40 mph like a mog but not seen many in arb yet

i dont really rate fastracs, spent plenty of hours in them. they dont like anything thats not off orad, eat transmissions and parts are expensive, good fun tho

been around them since they come out and have been ok for agri use just not sure on the rough going in arb

i've heard fast tracs don't like heavy PTO use

i reckon one of the older smaller fastracs would be ok, 1135 with 4 wheel steering are pretty good, manouvere well and nicely sized. handle weight better than a mog but not as quick or good off road, also havent really got a load bed apart from dog box on back

we had a 1135 4ws on a sprayer demounted on the bed it was well good but only about 35mph on road.

 

not sure about the PTO load problem as good as the ret i would guess.

the 1135 is same as newer 2140 etc only 50k boxes fitted. i liked the 3185. last of the ones with manual spools etc, not too electronic

my other concern with that size is would it have enough power to run mulchers and the like. the rest of the kit would be fine maybe a big chipper would make it grunt a bit. i think you need 150+ for what it`s needed for
