how long will what take chris? the purchase process will take at least a month. you probably wont be coppicing this year! whats in it at present? species, age, been coppiced before? 10k would be a bit of a guess, prob more if its got good access and 'appeal'. most coppice is done on rotation ie not all at once.

do you mean you have been offered the woodland to buy or the wood (ie the trees as a product)?

as previously said it depends on species, and age etc.

i think last year at some time an acre of decent chestnut to cut was about £500(??) may be well out but it sticks in my mind for some reason.

i havent really been much help...

Can be anything from a hundred quid (very unlikely) to tens of thousends. The main questions is are you buying the standing timber in an acre or the ownership of an acre?

If your buying the standing timber then it depends what product your looking to get out of it then (with a few years exp) you work out how much product per acre Is in a wood and how good the wood is for acess.

Bit of how long is a piece of string question I'm afraid as every wood is different and every owner sells there standing timber at a different rate.
