Good to see this lunctime I can still purchase good hand tools produced in the UK and with a 10 Year Guarantee. Wooden handle instead of the common plastic rubbish.

Was it new stock? I picked up an Elwell 6 with the lable still one - never used, from a boot sale. I knew a retired old boy who used to go to farm sales to buy up old tools, I then used to look over them and buy the good ones. Built up quite a collection, must get back into using them.

Shoulda ordered from Lawson-HIS. £10.19 + vat, or if you buy 5 of them then only £9.74 + vat. Delivery charge same as Machine Mart. Always worth checking Lawsons-HIS - I've had boots and things from them before, and not found anywhere cheaper.

We have a couple of those useful tools but not much good on steep banks where we often have to work. The price I gave did not take into account the 10% off and no vat MM does sometimes.

Iv still got an original sickle and sythe but you have to learn to sharpen them without slicing your hand.

I reckon youngsters should learn how to use them as it will help when they have to use a strimmer.
