how much log would you say is needed to warrant buying and processors. something the size of a japa 700

we only get about 7 ton a year but have been thinking about buying a few lengths in to make it pay for its self.

wheres a good place to source it from? how do they price it weight or volume?

thanks michael

You say you process 7 ton a year, even if you were doing 70 ton i dont think that is enough to warrant buying a processor, last year i sold 120 cube and managed it easily with a petrol logsplitter ,saw bench & chainsaw.

i would will agree 7-10 tone is not much and not worth the cost of a processer when it will be sitting around 99% of the time as you could do this volume in a day if it all fitted while it would only take about 3 days with a deasent saw and the size is not a isue then as that is the big down fall of a proceeser they need stright timber to feed it well and you limmited by size too so you would need a saw any way so it just a huge extra cost for the sake of a couple days of labor,

ps i cut and split 50+ cube all by hand
