Elg, what is the take on this in the states?

As I understand it, it will enable us courts to take down a site anywhere in the world merely on an allegation not a proven fact.

Given I cannot influence us legislators as I cant vote in the us this is akin to taxation without representation. wasn't a revolution fought on such a matter?

I could never understand why George W doesn't believe in Darwinism when the evidence is staring him in the face every time he looks in a mirror.

Interesting comment, Do you have a mirrior? and have you asked yourself that same question last time you took a look hard or otherwise at yourself?

I believe this link will provide an thumb nail of the bills in question. Key Facts about U.S. Online Piracy Bills SOPA and PIPA - International Business Times. Hope this helps. In my opinion the biggest critics of these bills ATM would be the abusers of the IP rights of others. I welcome additional feelings and concerns as well.

Still none the wiser really Ted, but that might just be because, even after all this time, I still don't actually know exactly how the internet works.... I've finally come to accept that it's not all inside my computer but I deep down there's still a part of me which still firmly believes magic is involved somewhere....:blushing:

The way I understand it, which is likely wrong, what people outside the US have a problem with is that it reads like the US government are going to be able to smash down doors in suburbs of Vienna because someone's accessed a Dutch hosted site illegally offering copyrighted material belonging to Fox...? Which Fox don't get any money for. :001_huh:

And this vote on their ability to access this material is being taken by Congress...? Is that right? And Austrian citizens have no say in it?

Which would be like Beijing sueing some good 'ole boys down in the deep south for viewing copyrighted Chinese state TV via a website hosted in Australia...? :confused1:

I'll stick with buying CD's in HMV ta very much...

I don't want stuff for free, I'd rather pay inflated prices to perpetuate the likes of Simon Cowell etc, ad nauseum...
