Hi guys, any one have any ideas?

I was using it yesterday clearing brambles, after about half hour its suddenly cut out dead from full revs.Pull cord was solid then after a bit it came free, pulled a few times but with little compression then seized solid again. Im thinking maybe piston rings? The mix was correct using stihl oil and machine has had very little use.

If it has no compression then I think you have answered your own question - I think you need to strip and examine - unless it is still under warranty in which case get it back to supplier.

Not under warranty now although it has'nt had much use. Yes it is the 4 mix.

Sounds like it may have siezed, the same rules to fuel and oil management apply to 4mix as to 2mix, with the same reuslts if its wrong.

As you dont use it often is there any possibility that the fuel was stale and seperated?

As said before, it looks like you will have to strip it to find out, but firstly investigate Jamie1's idea. Take off the valve cover and check that the valves are both in place with a clearance of about 0.1mm. You can also remove the rear engine plate to check the cam and gears.

Yes the oil was mixed/measured properly, i always take care with that. Although i bought it off a mate as he did'nt have much use for it and i needed one for a big job last yr so i dont know how careful he was with it but was almost new when i got it.

Ok ive had a look at it has dropped a valve, the retaining clip on the top of the spring had broke in 2. Is this likely to have caused further damage? Do i just need to replace the clip? Is it an easy enough job or should i take it for repair and if so is it an expensive job? Thanks for your help.
