I'd doubt it would be worth getting a harvester in for such a small area. Are you looking for someone to come in and give you a price standing or for you to pay a contractor and then sell roadside?

what sort of % is over say 18" diameter? Roughly what tonnage do you think there is to come out and how far would it need to go to roadside?

We're not a million miles away but if there's a fair bit of bigger stuff or it's a long haul we're maybe not the best bet.

would say 60% is over 18inch.was thinking of hand felling but was just seein how much a harvester was to get in nd jst gettin the job knocked out

I was chatting to a couple of lads today who are logging the softwood up the road from me at Dam Flask in Sheffield. Didn't catch their company name but they're working us subcontractors to Euro Forrest so if you give them a ring they should be able to give you their details By the look of the progress they only have a few days left so the kits only a few miles from Barnsley so transport costs wouldn't be bad for a small job. They were using a Komatsu 931 harvester, didn't catch which forwarder model it was but a Komatsu as well.

At a guess I would say that's Johnathon Crowther's kit. He'll want to know approximate tonnage to give you a quote. I'm guessing thinning. Is it self select or has it been marked? I doub't there would be much over 100t. Haulage for a forwarder is never much change out of £400 as it requires a low loader. so that's £400 he'll need to recover before wages/fuel etc.I would put it in at £1500 minimum Possibly on a day rate as it's such a small job. You'll be better off with a small tractor and trailer setup. Or sell it standing to euro forest/tilhill types.
