I cant get my head round why for the past 2 years vehicle insurance keeps going up. I have 3 vehicles <1: discovery 3 <2: Defender 110 tipper <3:Defender 130 tipper.

2 years ago I was paying just over £500 for the Discovery 3, and just short of £400 for each of the two Defenders. It went up quit a bit last year bearing in mind I,ve never had a claim and this year I,ve just received my renewal and they want £911 for the discovery 3. £578 for the Defender 110 and £727 for the Defender 130.

I've rang up and complained to the NFU who I have used for 8 years now and they said thats the best they can do.

how can insurance keep going up when you have'nt had a claim???

Does anyone recommend any other insurance companies to give a try? Forgot to mention both Defenders are insured for any driver over the age of 25 and have held a UK licence for over 2 years

Any help is much appreciated

I would highly recommend CVD , Commercial Vehicle Direct,

i had NFU for my two discos and my one transit, CVD halved the amount i was paying ,... i honestly can say they are one of the best companies i have dealt with ,

i was gutted when i left the UK and had to leave them.

I asked my local NFU man this question last year. His answer was that the insurance payouts were greatly exceeding the premium income. This is due in the main to the increased number of compensation payouts, and the vast amounts of some of these payouts, which in some cases amount to millions. It is a modern trend that we all have to pay for.

It's quite true, all these bloody no win no fee tossers are driving the cost of everything up.

That said, for the first time in nearly 10 years, I actually got a renewal which went down this winter, from £340 to £240 I think ... which frankly bloody amazed me.... needless to say I still haggled....!
