when producing biomass can offcuts from joinery be used if they are treated or untreated. Apart from arb arisings what else can be used to produce biomass.

really depends on what the biomass plant has been approved to burn. A plant I have done quite a bit of work at near Doncaster is WID compliant and burns mainly kitchen units which includes MDF and formica and a lot of other nasties. They have to burn at very high temperature and the smokestack is monitored 24/7 with automatic shutdown if it breaches the parameters on a regular basis. Major problem occurs if you want to claim ROC's as it needs to be virgin timber although a very small percentage of other material is allowed but subject to approval and testing.

them at doncaster you pay them to take in the waste because we do alot of fencing and we find it had to get rid of.

 

do many people use forestry residues for biomass

Depends on who you are supplying! A friend supplies local councils and leisure centres but the contracts stipulate it must be produced from virgin timber.

Fenching material is difficult.

 

As for brash we use it all but we need to dry it below 25% MC

do u no anyone is the north east who i could get the brash from i m thinking of getting a big shredder so i could shred on the site and take it away for people who do forestry and dont have a chipper or coldnt get rid of it,

 

if i got brash would they pay me for shredding it for them

I think for biomass working to a G30 spec requires a chipper if you shred it it could block the biomass feed systems due to bridging and strands in the auger.
