one of britains smallest birds may be able to save our horse chestnut trees.

the leaf minor moth,which arrived in the uk about a decade ago,lays its eggs in the veins of the leaves,which then die off as the caterpillars eat their way out-repeated infestations greatly weaken the tree.but blue tits,coal tits and great tits are enjoying this new source of food and are happy to feast on the larvae.

can they reverse the threat?

botanists are not sure yet but,as a tit family consumes 75 kilos of insects a year,the prospects look good..........
