monterey cyprus for turning

cutting down a load of this stuff so got it pretty much on tap and was wondering if any of you knew if it was any good for turning on a pole lathe?

 

i will probably try it anyway and let you guys know, its a really nice colour heartwood reminds me of yew

not sure about a pole lathe - it is a nice timber though, rich colour and nice defined annual rings. plentiful timber but under-rated! turning would expose the grain in all directions so i guess it would look A mate

too much hard work on pole lathe,,mate,,have turned it on power lathe,,i`d stick with ash and straight grained stuff on pole-lathe,,
