Attaching Ear Muffs to Helmet.

Hi guys was having a conversation at work about attaching earmuffs to a helmet without the slots normally used. My colleague argued that screwing into the helmet to attach the muffs would damage the helmet and possibly compromise its overall safety. But the stein helmets have been screwed through the plastic shell does this mean its safe to do for all helmets?

Cheers Ewan

No, do not modify the shell of a helmet.

If the Stein ones are screwed it's because they have been designed and manufactured as such.

In some instances you're not even supposed to put stickers on a helmet, so drilling holes could seriously impair structural integrity.

HTH!
