good evening, how do you go about designing a company logo? whats good and whats not? any ideas greatly appreciated

take a leaf out of my book...im awesome at finding logos as is testament by the lack of logo on arbtalk after nearly 5 years

But seriously though, finding a designer is hard. Even a good one may not click with you...and if you are anything like me and dont really know what you want, then things are all the more complicated. Ive paid 4 designers in the past 4 or so years to come up with designs for arbtalk, each one has been a waste. I thought I was onto something with the last design, paid them up and was about to run with it, then I accidentally found the logo i wanted to run with :001_smile:

You want the name of a good guy I know in Winchester? He does all the big sites for holiday companies, but will do it for a really reasonable price cash in hand outside of work. And if your Jack's brother, it helps that he lives in Badger Farm. Might be half an idea to have a chat with him anyway.

I dont think he lives in waltham chase... his names cole and hes about 24. A really good guy, he did my website for me.

Winchester is just a small place. I worked with his made James who was doing a patio for me about a week ago. And he subbies to bob hampton a lot and works with a good mate of mine. I actually called jack last week seeing if he'd be willing to move some sleepers for me with his transit in kingsworthy but he never called me back...

either way. hope business is good. didn't know his brother did arb?

Whoever makes the design still needs to be briefed about where/how it is to be used.

A logo that should be usable in small sizes (business cards) as well as large (posters) and electronic versions (website) possibly requires either multiple designs, or a very simple design.

If you want to be able to produce cut-foil versions of your logo to stick on vehicles and tools, and make cut-outstencils (spray paint), you need to keep the design very simple and single-colour (or two).

Also - choose something that people will remember and can relate to. I ended up choosing an old oak tree (see my avatar) with my website name next to it.
