You should defo look for someone to rebuild if possible. Deutz starter motors are notoriously expensive and rare to come by. We have a deutz engine idle in storage, the boss is reluctant to sell any parts though. If you have any numbers off the starter motor I'l find out what else it's fitted to tomoro.

Thanks for the replies.

Have found someone in turrif who repairs them and he is kooking at it now for me.

I was hoping the starter was a common one from the auto or plant markets and i could pick one up on the bay.

Deutz are hideously expensive. Had to replace an ally finned and coiled oil cooler pipe last year on same engine. Couldnt find anyone to make me one for me. So had shell out over £300 to deutz for an original part. With hindsight should of just made one up from copper tubing.

We dont make or repair bugger all in this country anymore unless you do it yourself.

Illegible. Will try and decipher and get back to you. Thanks.

Stuff like that really annoys me.

A giant make work scheme for main dealers.

When manufacturers submit models for construction and use certification they should be refused a ticket for unreasonable design like that or be forced to meet repairs from their pockets for as long as the vehicle has an mot.
