I had the county 1164 james jones conversion with a 6 tonne trailer behind, it was ok for forwarding on easy ground or along rides or tracks, but very cumbersum for turning in tight spaces, no good for up hill forwarding at all, then i sold that and bought a valmet 820 forwarder, what a transformation, i could go everywhere i liked with tracks and chains on, output more than doubled, warm and dry with radio on, i thought i hit the big time ,lol. but i still hold a soft spot for county's

Was it a highland bear by any chance?not many of them left now.

We are a rathchet strap and zip tie kind of crew. If it cant be fixed like that have a good mate with a high powered mobile welding rig!!! We had the 754 James Jones with a Cranab crane that I was always lifting one back wheel on to reach that last piece of timber. You do get used to that point of balance but not good first time you do it. Had to hose out the cab. Good trick in front of group of ramblers. Getting the Valmet low loaded up hopefully this week so will try to upload pics of her at work soon. Would love a purpose built Valmet but we tend to move from site to site on smaller jobs so always thought transport would be a big drawback?
