  1. Yes we had the Valmet for 3 years before I traded it into Wilsons for a 6550 with a 570tl on the roof. We bought it from Aspen Tree Services in Kent. The 8000 was a good solid tractor and in some ways regret moving it on! Think you paid a fair price for it too less than when I bought it privately and with the refurb work done at Wilson's.The fan was noisy all the time we ran it just used it on number 1 and didn't get any trouble. The guys down here to get parts from are HC Curtis Ltd or Lister Wilders but not sure about up your way.
  2. We are a rathchet strap and zip tie kind of crew. If it cant be fixed like that have a good mate with a high powered mobile welding rig!!! We had the 754 James Jones with a Cranab crane that I was always lifting one back wheel on to reach that last piece of timber. You do get used to that point of balance but not good first time you do it. Had to hose out the cab. Good trick in front of group of ramblers. Getting the Valmet low loaded up hopefully this week so will try to upload pics of her at work soon. Would love a purpose built Valmet but we tend to move from site to site on smaller jobs so always thought transport would be a big drawback?
  3. No didnt pay asking price for it but around what he bought it for but should help out alot and as said only worth what you can make from it. Had a James Jones County with a crane on before and always regretted selling that so thats what spurred me on to take the plunge. Already been asked to help out some local tree surgeons and other forestry teams. The backs feeling it now so more mechanical assistance the better (except for when it breaks!)
  4. Was looking around and saw this thread. We've just bought this Valmet and good to know you guys know all about its history. Bought it as a time (and back) saver! Endless uses in our forestry business and it'll be out every day at this rate. Great forum:thumbup1:
