round timber

hi is anybody extracting and selling timber in the round from there own managment work, roadside or otherwise?

i'm tring to get an idea of how much it's worth and wether or not to season it for the next year or so, but money as always is tight so i'm considering selling it fresh to get the money in straight away and also putting a stash at one side for myself

any thoughts or better yet price idications?

I try and sell about 1/4 of the wood road side to cover about 2/3 of the extraction costs, so that there is less of a gap to fill before the wood has seasoned and i can sell it as logs.

i'm paying 30-35 a ton at min..... depending where you are i'd take all you got off your hands... [hardwood that is]

im in the north east mate and be be honest i havent got any at the roadside just yet, i have bought a miniforwarder and am waiting on some repairs to be done then will be ready to go

No, in theory you shold make more money selling it as seasoned logs.

Good wood road side should get you £30-£40 per cube roadside

I sm selling logs £75 per load, and i get about 1 1/2-2 loads per cube.

Nobody ever went bust by taking a profit - if you have a market to sell fresh timber into that will give a positive cash return then sell enough to keep your cashflow up to whatever level you desire or are comfortable with and season the remainder for future sales

im based in chester le street but the wood is a bit further up where are you josy?

thanks for all the input so far it's putting my mind at rest, i guess it's a case of making my own mind up, but always havinmg the option to sell at anypoint i may need to really isn't it?

Hi Gary your 357 xp is ready for you, i,ve used it for a couple of hours this afternoon and it,s just fine. So you can get cutting again.
