Castor based two stroke

I have managed to source some Castor based two stroke oil which I am going to trial on my MS200.

 

Castor based oils have a smell which I absolutely love, if you have ever been to a race meet you will know the smell I mean.

 

Have be trying to get a source for a smell fix for ages :sneaky2: and come across this from Millers Oils which is 1/4 mile down the road from me. It is a synthetic oil incorporating castor, designed for use in high revving two stroke race engines, jet ski's etc

Tell me what its like Dean, would love some of that.

 

You probably know already, but the old rotary aircraft engines used a total loss lubrication system, and used Castor oil. Thats why the pilots wore those long scarves, it was to wipe the castor oil off their goggles!

Hmmmm, it smells like model car racing.

 

I'm going to give it some pasty with the 020 and in the blower. But the only downside is it is clear and really thick so you can't tell whether it's been mixed and you have to wash out your measure jug into your mix to get every drop.

 

I'm going to go down and see them to see if they would be willing to put dye into it as they have a research and development lab on site

Ask them to put green dye in it Dean. No particular reason, I just like green petrol...

 

I rang technical dept today and they said they dont put dye in it because it stays in the mixing vessel for a long time after. They have to flush it with thousands of litres before it clears :confused1:

 

I'd have thought a gallon of petrol and an lacky with a brush had have done the job quick sticks :001_tongue:

 

Wonder if you can buy the dye and put it in thi sen

Been using this castor based two stroke for 6 weeks now with no problems.

 

The only thing is having to mix the petrol as soon as you get it so you know it's all mixed because of the lack of dye.

 

The oil gets really thick in the cold almost like treacle so I have had to use a measure jug instead of the squeeze and measure stihl bottles.

 

The oil itself is doing the job as the exhaust exit is nice and wet with oil, doesn't over smoke but the smell is georgous.

 

I've had three landscaper - gardeners come round from next door and sak what I'm using because it smells nice :001_smile:

 

I love the smell of castor oil burning, if anyone knows where I can source it with dye in it please let me know
