Had a weekend milling around the countryside looking at trees with a few friends on tow! :thumbup:

 

The tree was 173 years old before it had to be taken down. Honey fungus is rife now but I do not know what made the tree unsafe. It was a cedar as is the next few pictures.

Far too many people on tow Matt, but thanks for the heads-up for next visit :thumbup1:

 

No worries. I got some good woods near me that would make even the most hardcore fung and body language nut shiver in his boots. Shall take you to our most famous woods in the area with some big beeches and an massive yew.

No worries. A good wood to check out is Thorncombe Woods nr Dorchester. Lots of fungi ridden trees which are pretty much left to their own devices.

1/2 + 6/7 : could be Phellinus pini.

3 : Armillaria mellea.

8 : Trametes gibbosa.

9/10/11 : Aleuria aurantia.

12 : colour of spores ?

13/14 : Grifola frondosa.

15/16 : barkcanker.

Gerrit, 1+2 was on Red Oak if that helps?
