i wish i had a choice of where to work, but sadly not.

 

Seems to me you know what your doing why don't you take the plunge and go out on your own? Your gaffer doesn't sound that helpful so why hang around, if you can do the work from what you have said do it for yourself.

As an employer, I'd have to be very very careful before deducting monies from a pay packet which is deemed in law to be protected earnings. Especially deducting a fee for training which as an employer I had potentially gained a commercial advantage from you having within that two year period and which may have been legally required for you to have had to work for me.

 

So as an employer you have no choice

Pay to train employees up or face the consequences

Try to engender good relations and a happy workforce and maybee trained staff will stay and give you a chance to get the training money back

I believe as an employee you are pretty well protected with all the duty of care stuff being laid at the employers feet. And you wonder why your boss is stressed out today:001_rolleyes:
