i really do like this for recycling it just needs a pair of 45 degree plates on either side and rotate the ram through 45 degrees and you would have a quick reasonably "safe" machine.

I am building a machine to cut planned timber for our kindlett. I opted to buy a new automatic up cut machine then fit a pneumatic guide and fit a used conveyor all now spread around the workshop will be working in a week or so. Point I am making is buy a couple of used machines and make what you want rather than starting from scratch.
