GRCS hints and tips

after getting my grcs a couple of weeks ago, we are really begining to get to grips with it

 

my question is, what hints and tips do you grcs users have?

Sell it to a Geordie mate for £500 would be my best advice.

Hey john, you just need to play with it and get a feel for the thing. If you don't have a visor for it then its worth getting one. Also get some.spare rubbers for the mount, its not always easy to fix it too funny shape trees so they do get chewed up. A big bucket is good for the rope too when your winching, as you can just feed the rope.back into the bucket to.keep it clean.

Good tip with the bucket Gibbon. We use a 'pop-up' gardeners bag. Folds down over the rigging rope nicely for transport. £7.99. Bargain.

I use a recycled tyre rubber bucket and it's excellent, will not crack or degrade with uv. Very hard wearing.

 

Use less wraps than a normal bollard and watch out for your rigging point, you can snap it out! There can be a lot of force generated by the GRCS!

That would be my main worry Deer Man. The strength of the craning point for lifting must always be a factor.

 

It would be fun testing on some smaller field trees to see what failed and where?

Where do you get ur grcs spares/bits from?

Yeah its easy to forget about the size of the stem its anchored to. I've cracked a stem by winching lots on it.

I got all of it from sherril. I got 2 spare straps for it after one got torn on some barbed wire. I still have one if you ever need one. it was a pain in the arse to find them so.I bought 2
