Spend the extra on the airstreams. I'm more and more impressed with mine everytime I wear them. Three and half years, still waterproof and still keeping their shape. I have a brand new pair in the garage but I don't reckon they're going to get a look in for at least another 8 months. That little bit of extra money seems like nothing when a pair of boots last that long.

Thanks for the replies I have been scouring the online reviews of all the boots mentioned and the general consensus seems to be the airstreams are great but out of my price range and I realy don't like the red, the stein gtxs everyone says are massively stiff ok for climbing but I don't do climbing so they too are out that just leaves the 2 hiaxs protector pros and Tibet forests and again as all my work is on the ground I think I'll be going for the Tibet forests. Cheers for the advice and I'll let you know how I get on with them when I get them

Thanks tractor62 (Graham)

Well they're here ordered yesterday morning delivered today thankyou very much to the staff at F R Jones & Sons , top service and the best price I could find on the web.

On to the boots and first impressions are very good they have a tread depth that wouldn't be out of place on a 4x4 mud terrain tyre, the leather feels stiff enough and should wear in nicely, the sizing is generous enough to fit even the largest socks to keep feet warm over winter and the lacing system was obviously designed by someone that knows what they are doing very smooth and easy to get the laces just right. I'll update again when I have put them to work and given them a propper test but so far I'd deffinately recommend them

Cheers graham

Ok so after a good few months of being used and abused the verdict is that these are easily the best work boots I've ever had. my feet have stayed dry even in the snow and so far the brambles in the woods I have been working in have only managed to have any effect on the laces (1 broke and finding a decent replacement was a pain) that said all my old boots have better part of given up after this kind of abuse so a pair of laces per year isn't too bad in my opinion. So in summing up if you are after a chainsaw boot that will keep your feet dry, warm, safe and be comfortable and well maid enough to work around a farm/timber yard/bramble thicket/coppice wood or a bit of climbing then I'd seriously consider these

Cheers Graham

Look at the Meindl airstream too. I find them a brilliant boot and are shorter than he protector pro so should be easier for long days tractor driving. I've used the Meindls a good amount in a tractor and found them no different to any other boots.

Just got a pair last week from Gustharts and they are cracking! By far the best boots out there at the moment I recon like!!:thumbup::thumbup:
