I'd be surprised if the form your council has been using up to this point was exactly the same as the new one. The first few pages are largely the same but it is completely different towards the end of the document. Notice that you only have to submit one copy now with new form! One version of the old 1App I saw asked for 3 copies plus the original!!!

Is there a way that you can submit applications from the planning portal via email???? I find it easier to email applications , and have been doing so but now that these forms have to be used I'm not too sure how to go about it and still be able to email them. Surely I don't have to print them off, fill them in, scan them, then email them!!!!!!!!!!

Any help greatly recieved.

It's possible... After completing the planning portal online form there s an option to print off a paper copy - this in fact allows you to save your form as a .pdf... You could then email that.

Our local Council wrote to us and I take it most firms back in May telling us we had to use the new forms from april and they wanted 3 copies I just kept using the old system with 1 from just to wind them up and prove a point.

Well it's easy to confuse a council ;)

Standard application forms became a requirement for most types of planning application some time back. But because of the nature of the TPO legislation it wasn't quite as easy to make the forms mandatory. It required a change of legislation. Quite a few councils seem to have been confused by this. The fact is they couldn't insist on the use of a 1App form for TPOs in May, nor on sending of 3 copies.

Now, though, they not only can insist on the use of the 1App form, but don't have any discretionary power to accept an application which doesn't use it. Only 1 copy though.

Why would you want to use the planning portal to email? It's hideous. It drives me up the wall. If I were going to go to all the effort of trying to fill out the form on the PP, I'd just submit it.

But I can see a lot of advantages to emailing a form if it means you can avoid using the PP. And you're not the first to ask. It is certainly legally acceptable to email the form. I'll hunt around and see if I can find something to help.

What you'll want is an unlocked form tabbed .pdf copy of the tree1app. The ones off the PP are locked though...
