The MS260/026 carb metering arm isn't set to the top of the carb like an MS200t, it is set to the same level as the bottom of the diaphragm cavity.

 

Worth checking that an MS200t diaphragm hasn't been fitted as they are similar and would cause under fuelling.

 

Sounds like your high speed circuit isn't working correctly.

 

Had similar once on an MS200 - turned out to be a resin scum on the gauze filter - take it out and inspect under a mag glass.

I recall that the 260 uses a WTE carb (we are all much more familiar with the WT) and the diaphragm kit for that is a K10-WTE, but many suppliers supply a K20-WAT in error. The difference is that the nipple in the centre of the metering diaphragm is flatter on the WTE one. A WAT one with a more erect nipple will cause over fuelling.

 

This is true, found it out the hard way! :blushing:

Will check it out and let you know. It does have a big nipple. :blushing:

 

I did reset the arm twice, once with the tool but it did look a bit low as it sat in the hole a bit and when pressed with finger it didn't open the valve, so tweaked it up a bit and it was opening.

 

Will open it a little bit more and then pop test the carb to see when it starts working properly.

Let me know the carb number, and the number of the kit you used Rich and I will check it out.

 

Some 260's have the standard type WT carb which uses the deep nipple diaphragm, others have the WTE carb which uses the shallow nipple.

 

There he goes - on about nipples again:lol:
