We can do 3 cube an hour. Then after 2 hours laid out on the floor worn out. Or we do 2 cube an hour for 6 hrs and get 12 cu metres. :001_smile: not as young as we used to be. Hakki pilki 2x would be ok as its rated 12" and has twin splitting ram which is fast. Not the ideal machine for 12" hardwood but may suit you and cheaper used than the bigger processors.

If I want to produce 27 tonnes a day (approx 54 cube) and all material is 12 inch, would running 2 of the hakki pilke 2x be a good option, (2 operators on processor, 1 operator loading both machines), or would it better getting a bigger machine. I presume bigger material is require to utilise a larger machine or will a bigger machine process 12 inch material faster anyway due to ram force / hydraulic power etc,

cheers,

If I am processing straight Scots Pine average 12inch, what outputs could I expect from the following machines based on a 10 hour day with 2 operators, with timber craned on to the processor:

HP 1x37

HP 1x42

bgu 37

SSP 450

Binderberger 520

well,

hp 37 on my own, pullin em off pallet tines of matbro, artic load in three days.

bgu 37 on my own,log deck, artic load in 1 1/2 days easy peasy, loadin with matbro and stacking logs 100 yrds away with grain bucket.

Hp 370 with hyd. controls . Can achieve 3m3 comfortably per hour with straight softwood cord working solo. Imho the optimal timber is 6 to 10 " diameter for this machine.

If your cord is @ the 12" diameters i would go for the hp 420 or bigger machine. Don't overlook the importance of a logdeck. Get the biggest one you can, or build one. A lot of man 2's time will be taken up feeding the deck so if you can get a lot on in one go it frees up time to handle the output or dig out chip

In my experience with a HP the infeed convayour is not man enough to cope with big timber especially if clumsily loaded like I use to.

Thats interesting as I have been put off the palax which I think may be better quality due to lack of powered in feed belt. I would imagine with rough treatment the belts could be damaged is it much effort to pull the timber in by hand.
