I did once find a clump at the base of a sorbus like this, a bit gone over and like you say my gut was saying P squrossus but they was BIG and it throws you a bit! contrary little beggars them fung!:laugh1:

 

I know what you are saying... still trying to get my head 'round most fungs...

 

Pholiotas are EVERYWHERE this year! Not quite sure about implications, rotting speed and so on. Thoughts?

Highly depending on the Pholiota species (biotrophic or necrotrophic parasitic ?) and on the interaction of the Pholiota species with the tree species.

I meant Pholiota squarossa.

My first on oak, but also on Salix alba, Sorbus intermedia and rowan. All new apperances this year (mast year?) How bad should I sleep at night?:blushing:

on oak and ash I would think not too sweaty, on rowan sycamore willow, time to toss and turn my lad! sleepness nights a plenty!:lol:
