So this is my first fungalthread... every once in a while I find unexpected things....

 

Like this fella that grows in a "butress cavity! of a birch, what is it?:001_huh:

I thought it was but didnt expect to find it on Birch... I have only seen it on Maple before.

Just a very common one around my neck of the woods. The Clinker Polyphore

 

Only seems to be the bark and cambium canker the mycelium of Inonotus obliquus produces without forming tube layers with spores.
