Multec 14ton Splitter

I am seriously considering purchasing one of these

does anyone have one or any feed back on using one? its for heavy hobby use rather than everyday commercial use.

From what i can make out it can be used 1 handed. I thought all new ones needed to be 2 handed operation for safety regs.

you are completely correct sir! but as soon as I got it home i'd make it work one handed! Its only me using it and my current little splitter works one handed to. Its not for a commercial enterprise and won't be operated by employees.

Yep I agree, but a tad agricultural may not be a bad thing! it looks quite reasonable for the money.

I should have one being delivered next week, I thought they looked reasonably solid and not a bad price. Was going to build one myself, but time being tight and the materials costing so much just seemed quicker to buy a complete unit.

Please do, Its going to be a couple of weeks before I have the funds in place to order but your reasoning is very similar to mine, cost of steel, hoses, and ram etc theese do seem well built.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The couriers were the problem, not the makers or dealer, both of who are great to deal with (especially Rob, the bloke listing it on eBay)

 

Machine is sturdy enough and works just fine on the back of the tractor, waist high bed might be ok if you are no taller than 5ft, but putting a pallet under the base sorted that out. It has been splitting everything from red oak to birch with no hassles, although it's new so shouldn't be a problem anyway. Got the four way head as well and one side table, again both solid enough and it's easy to change between two and four way split heads (six bolts)
