Before working on Network Rail infrastructure, you need to have:

1) Pre Employment Medical

2) PTS Qualification

3) Sponsorship from a Link-up Approved company

The medical should cost you in the region of £120 - £150

The PTS course is a two day training course with assessment and should cost around £220-£250.

I have managed to get lads through the medicals and PTS for around £350 in the past.

Once you've got your meds and PTS you need ot be sponsored, most likely from the company you'll be subbing to..this wont cost you anything.

Rail work can be good, and can be (very) bad depending on the vegetation/terrain etc but I have found it enjoyable on the whole although tedious at times...

Good luck with it mate!
