Looking for a winch for 50HP Alpine tractor

Recommended Posts

Cracking little tractor, I went down for a look and ended up trying to

Persuade him to keep it, find a loader to fit and get shot of the Chinese lump he'd replaced it with! With a bit of fabbing you could fit a compact Lewis or Kubota loader, failing that the frame is a handy bit of forestry guarding anyway....good that it went to a working home.

I'm glad that your persuasion didn't work otherwise I'd still be searching for a tractor! I have yet to get the tractor in the woods but will do once I've bought a winch for it. I've been thinking along similar lines looking out for a loader to adapt as even Ferrari don't know which model the mountings were made for.

I can recommend igland, I have a 4201 42KN one. All these winches are hard to find second hand though, I waited a long time for mine to come up. The tajfun / unaforest ones aren't too dear new, maybe look out for an ex demo or a show special offer.

I bought at second hand Igland 3201 that came up on ebay. I've yet to use it but it is light and compact - hopefully not too small. I'll report back when it has been put to work.

Reckon you'll be surprised at what it will pull - great little winches. We've been using one recently on some fairly rough pines and it's been surprising what it will do for the size of it.

Dead easy to work on too, we did the clutch pads a few months ago and if it hadn't been for one of the new ones being mis shaped it would have been a few minutes from start to finish.

Single drum 3 tonne norse winch propping up one of our shed walls if you are interested. Not been used in a while but was working fine.

Butt plate is removable and the top of the frame is notched to take skidding chains.

Winch is not fitted with a brake but has non - return pawl and ratchet arrangement.

No photos at the mo but can arrange if there is interest
