I've been out today with a load of flyers that i had made up last week and have been to over twenty pubs and about the same amount of shops, i came back with orders for 32 bags not one person asked me the dimensions of the bags but i did put two bags on the back of the truck that were overflowing with logs so people could see what they were getting, i put on the flyers that if you order before 1st september there is a £10 discount on orders of two bags or more i also put on the flyer if you recomend a friend or neighbour you'd get a £5 dicount on your next load.

It was a bit nerve racking going in and doing the selling but at the third pub i got an order for four bags, after that the nerves were gone.

Happy days.

excellent!! that rates as a pretty good day. we too made some fliers last week. difference is, we haven't posted them yet! ha. but they do seem to get the best response of all advertising. did you have a beer in each pub to help the nerves? we like your overflowing bag technique.

My advice (for what it's worth) would be not to post your flyers, use them as your advertising tool, a foot in the door so to speak, even if their not intrested you can ask them to put one in the window or on their board and if one of their customers asks about it they have a little knowledge which you have told them, go and talk to the people, flyers are thrown in the bin by the majority of people if they land on the doormat

I had a refreshing pint of lager in the last pub that i called into, i needed it by the end of the day.

I think the problem is when you say you want £150 or whatever for a cabstar load it sounds like alot of money, especialy when you pick up the local paper and see people selling loads for £70/£80, so i've gone over to bulk bags at £65 ago, it's not such an ask as £150 and i'll probably still run out before the end of winter.

you have hit the nail on the head. People will still find 600.00 for oil though some people still see logs as non-essential and that we get it for free!! that is starting to change this year more than last. a lot more customers are getting prepared bigger loads etc.
