That's a point actually; whenever I've seen it in stands it's normally because an edge has been exposed.

 

Still, I was told by a better pathologist than me that grey squirrels are a demonstrable vector, both in terms of wounding and transmitting spores.

And that's also correct, even though in The Netherlands we don't have that much squirrels to see much damage done by them.

No tree rat damage as far as I could see. But took down two syc's down today that had been devastated although as I pointed out to the property developer the larger of the two had been ring barked, hmm he

Must have really wanted that new fence! Gggggrrrrrr!!!

Would the crack be an after effect?

Sun scald, is this caused by over exposure to solar radiation killing the cells by boiling, for lack of a better word same effect it has on human skin cells? And what cells are actually effected by it, vascular cambium or secondary phloem? Or both?
