Not a bad days work despite the ice making our arses pucker a bit on the back roads. Highlight of the day was Rodney the Robin paying us a visit when we looked at what was logged as a "stile step in need of replacement". Need 2 full stile kits, and a full sleeper bridge kit... and we are about 1/2 mile from the nearest road so may need to break out the power barrow for that job. Not a bad sunset to finish either. In the last picture you can just about see some new age romany travellers which have been set up on the common for about 3 years.

Todays job. Site reccy a small bridge job. Needs two beam sections as part of the bridge is rotten. Remove side growth from the alder and replace 3 foot treads. We will also aid the flow of the river by removing some hazel coppice which has created a partial dam which we cleared slightly to allow the water to flow easier. All this will be done in the new year. Also, spot whats missing from the back of our Ford Ranger.

Wow didnt realise this thread had nearly 12,000 views. Ha ha i didnt think my work was that interesting to other people but it obviously is. Will be happily posting pictures of tomorrows xmas get together.

Ha ha was cleaned extremely well when it met a low roof of an old pump house in a farmyard.

Ah, the old back window wipe out! We've smashed two this year and finished with a bill for a piece of tempered, laminated glass on the Titanic slipways which we broke with a stone from a grass cutting machine. £660 plus vat Aaaaaaah! Could have been worse - it could have been a tourist:blushing:

It was our xmas finish day so we had two guys come from our west team down to help out. Was a good day. Got lots done had fun whilst we did it. Had no complaints from members of the public about felling the trees. The fire became a monster when there was 6 of us loading it at once but sadly didnt get chance to get a picture of it as the boss was felling trees between me and the van. Finished loading the fire at 3 and let it burn down until 4. We wet to the many locals but our usual haunt and got the fire burning as they were having issues getting it lit.

nice job field paths look a lot like the ones i have been doing waiting for tiger to pop its head out:laugh1: the mower you are using what make is it and is it good. save me a lot of time using strimmer. hope to have a lot more next year. re rubbish is it in a parish if so inform the parish chairman soon get sorted.

We use a combination of 13hp DR field and brush mower which is a big rotary mower from the USA. And a 13hp BCS flail. The DR is a brilliant bit of kit. If it is used on stony ground it tends to eat the skids as it doesnt use wheels on the front. The DR deck tilts and can be swapped for a lawn deck/finer finish deck. The rought deck cuts down to 4 inches high but can take out 1.5 inch trees (depending on engine power and deck size). The BCS cuts to about an inch high and flails the seven bells out of everything. We use a combination of T flail and Y flail hammer heads. The Y heads beat the brambles down and the T heads flail it even further but leave a neater finish. The DR is electro start but the BCS we have is recoil start. I have used both on a regular basis but the DR is readily available in the 13 hp model but the BCS you can only buy the 13hp Kohler engine model second hand or refurbed. Hope this is of help.
