Stihl HS75 hedgetrimmer

Hiya,

 

Got my eye on one of these, being sold as spares/repair with reason being the blades don't move (but apparently 'starts and runs fine'). I know next to nowt about hedgetrimmers (really need to improve my knowledge of machinery!!) and was wondering if anyone could hazard a guess if this could be an easily fixable problem or not? I understand that it may be impossible to tell from that very brief description though!)

Sounds like the clutch has gone. If it runs fine then its obviousily a relatively easy job to fix. I've replaced the clutch in our HS75 before and its no more difficult than replacing a chainsaw clutch.

Hi,

Some of the early hs75 had problems with the gearbox in the heads, i think it was the ones that turn 0-90 degrees. Stihl recommend a complete new head instead of trying to fix them if they break.

Could possibly be the gearbox is goosed.

 

Also could be side casing that contains a bearing and also the crankcase that contains another if its never been greased.

 

Could cost alot of money to repair or could be what rangermatt says in which case an easy cheap fix.

Also possible that a spacer inbetween the blade is missing, Sometimes the vibration loosens the blade bolts and they fall out once bolt is gone spacer can fall out too. As some people don't know about spacer and just replace bolt and tighten it up and locks the blades.
